BELLAMY, HINA
GENDER Female
AGE 22
POWER N/A, resorts to using the standard Plight guns and archery in fights. The arrows are naturally made of the same power-nullifying material as the bullets.
QUOTE
" I know that in this world there are no such things as black or white, good or evil. But there is one thing that’s perfectly clear to me, my duty."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
APPEARANCE No matter how much Bellamy tries to hide it, the fact remains that she is a woman and her body is built accordingly. Though years of regular gym visits and strict routines has left her body lacking anything that could be likened to feminine curves, the only exception being the chest area. She isn’t too keen on displaying them however, finding them to be more of a bother than anything else. Her arms and legs are thin, elbows and knees sharp and bony, yet the contours of the underlying muscle are clearly visible. She is strong, despite what her meager frame might be letting on, her muscles stringy and persistent instead of packing raw power in the form of muscle mass.
Sharp, angular and narrow would be the best words to describe her features, matching her build. Her face is framed by a silky disarray of blonde hair, never kept at any longer than at shoulder-length. She has never really cared much about the way she looks, vanity isn’t a trait the plight, and by extension, her herself values. Still, the general consensus seems to be that she is pleasing to the eyes at least but to be honest, she would prefer that she wasn’t that noteworthy at all. She feels like it takes away the gravity of her work.
--------------------------------------------------------- PERSONALITY There is no question of what takes the front seat in Bellamy’s life, The Plight. As it was her father’s devotion before her, it has become her own. Whenever she is doing something related to her job, she’ll try to assume the very incarnation of professionalism and efficiency, staying true to her father’s teachings. Though compared to him, she’s still lacking. For one, she isn’t very intimidating at all, neither her stature nor her attitude are very threatening much to her dismay, making her feel like she’s constantly being taken lightly among her colleaugues, this might very well be true.
As much as she likes to think of herself as a hardened officer of the Plight, she knows that she can be almost childishly gullible sometimes. She can’t really help it though, she desperately wants to be able to trust anyone and everyone out on the streets and sometimes in moments of weakness she forgets that she’s living in the very brooding ground of corruption and deceit. She has gotten into trouble countless times, yes, but nothing has been so serious that she hasn’t been able to deal with it with a couple off well-placed bullets and perhaps an arrow or two. She doesn’t like resorting to violence but her naivety isn’t deep-seated enough to have her thinking that there is a peaceful solution to every problem.
However, off-duty she assumed a much more relaxed attitude. Without the stress that comes naturally with the occupation, she is able to act a bit more like herself. She’s kindhearted and caring, feeling genuine empathy for her fellow man stuck in the conflict between the supernatural and the freaks of nature, knowing fully well that it’s the poor and weak that will take the heaviest blows in the fighting. She hates this more than anything, seeing the innocent suffer because of the conceit of the immortals and the thoughtlessness of the reapers. It’s both her biggest motivation and justification when it comes to her affiliation with the plight. She’s well-aware of their.. less than exemplary methods, but sometimes you simply got to fight fire with fire. She comforts herself with the thought that they wouldn’t hesitate to retaliate a hundred times more fiercely.
Her feelings towards the immortals are.. mixed. She can’t quite figure out if she hates them or pities them. On one hand, everything that has gone wrong in the world right now can be traced back to AV and the deelers and for that, they’ve earned nothing but her unadultered loathing. However, she has never been able to hate something with such a passion that she has lost control over her rational thinking or her emotions.
--------------------------------------------------------- HISTORYThe The Bellamy family has always had strong ties to the Plight and their cause. Her father and her older brother were prominent within the group, though the age-gap prevented them from ever getting especially close with eachother, not to mention that they could be gone weeks on end on various missions in different cities. Hina was barely able to understand what they did during this time but her mother and the people in their vicinity reassured her that everything was fine, they were out ‘saving the world’ and treated them like heroes upon their return. It only came naturally for her to do so as well eventually. They grew to become the only people she could wholeheartedly say that she admired; they were strong, they were cool, they were the good guys, fighting evil in faraway lands. Sure, her mother was very loving and nice but she constantly found herself wishing that her brother and father would come and whisk her away from the boring safety of her home and take her along on their exciting adventures.
Of course, this kind of naivety subsided as the years passed but she would never be able to shake those feelings of admiration and awe regarding her brother and father, even today any insults to their memory will be met with a relentless rage.
Life continued without any drastical changes. Her father and brother were still gone most of the time and Hina still found herself dreaming about standing by their side someday. Though her mother thought the whole idea was ridiculous, Hina was a gentle little girl, she had no business with the Plight whatsoever. Besides, her mother wasn’t too fond of the idea of letting another member of her immediate family risking their life for their cause. Their calling was a noble and honorable one but she drew her line at 50% of her family possibly sacrificing themselves for it.
However, as much as she had wished for a break in her boring existence, she would take it all back in a heartbeat if it could’ve prevented the following events. When she was 14, her brother was killed on a mission, swiftly severing whatever weak bond that might have kept her father and mother connected. Her mom blamed her father and the plight for her son’s death while her father thought that his death had been just and noble. There was no outright fighting, in fact, they barely spoke to eachother, but the tension was overwhelming on the seldom occasion when the two of them were in the same room.
Caught in the middle of this was Hina. It was a confusing time for her, struggling to accept the loss of a brother and feeling disconnected to her parents, to boot she had to deal with the difficulties of puberty. In the end, she was forced to reach for her father, her mother being in an almost catatonic state after her brother’s death. There was still a part in her that wanted to prove that she was more than some crybaby that hid behind her mother’s skirt at the slightest sign of danger, she wanted her father’s respect so in addition to a lack of anything better to do, she joined the Plight’s cause at age 15.
She eventually earned what she had wished for- it turned out that she was truly her father’s daughter, quite formidable at both handling weapons and devising strategies. He took her under his wing, teaching her what he knew and sharing his experiences, being quite proud of his daughter. However, in his opinion, she was still too soft to be cut out for any 'real' Plight duties and constantly tried various methods of toughing her up. It may actually have worked if their time together hadn't been cut short. Just like her brother, he was killed by the deelers.
For a short time, Hina was immersed in her work, fueled by rage and hatred. She wanted revenge and that was the only goal in her life at that point. Her family was shattered, the majority of them dead and far too few buried and there were no doubts of who were to blame, the deelers.
Eventually, her feelings would come to subside, The storm of emotions within her reduced to a quiet, dedicated resolve. Despite her mother's pleading words, she stayed with the Plight. She was still a novice, even after her father's training and the organization regarded her as such. The fact that her father had fought and died for their cause didn't matter to them, it only made it easier for them to remember her face. She became known as 'Bellamy's kid', eventually just shortened to Bellamy. At first, she detested the nickname. She wanted to be known for her actions, not for who her parents were. Still, she didn't protest and soon she became indifferent. Indifference turned into a reluctant acceptance, which in turn became some sort of consent and that trend has continued into current time, only people from her childhood and her family still call her Hina. To be honest, it would be weird if someone referred to her with her first name at this point, she has become so used to being Bellamy in the public eye that she almost forgets that she has a first name too.
